A laboratory fume hood is a type of ventilation system that functions primarily to provide personnel protection against toxic fumes, vapors, and dust. Its secondary function is to act as a physical barrier and protection against chemical spill, runaway reactions, and fires. Fume hoods are among the most important facilities for every laboratory as it provides protection for the lab  staff working with chemicals.
